Emily Naughton receives 2016 CYC Camogie Scholarship

In the tradition of San Francisco being in the forefront of all that is good about Gaelic Games, Emily Naughton (on left) was awarded the first ever CYC Camogie Scholarship.

Emily has been playing Gaelic Football and Camogie with the San Francisco Youth GAA for 10 years. At a very young age she fell in love with the sport and has continued to develop and improve over the years, under the guidance of the IFHYL coaches. Emily helped promote Gaelic Games at her High School (Mercy Burlingame). She was team captain for the first San Francisco girls Feile team who played in Mountrath, Co. Laois in 2012. Emily has participated in numerous CYC tournaments, representing San Francisco and the North American team.

This past summer was Emily's last CYC tournament (Chicago Gaelic Park). She played on the U18 Girls Football team which won the Championships and on the first U18 Girls Camogie team. Emily was honored to be a team captain for the San Francisco U18 football team. While this was her last CYC as a player, she hopes to continue to promote the games by coaching younger girls and playing with the ladies teams.
